4. Composing and arranging music within specified guidelines.
5. Reading and notating music.
(District-wide assessment in 4th grade)

RESPONDING:
6. Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.
7. Evaluating music and music performances.
(District-wide assessment in 2nd grade)

CONNECTING:

9. Understanding music in relation to history and culture.
(District-wide assessment in 5th grade)

Parents in second grade are encouraged to attend the music demonstration night in which students show how they interact and perform with each other in a regular music class as well as demonstrate understanding of the concepts they\'re learning.

Fifth graders have an annual program near the end of the school year with a morning performance for the school and an evening performance for friends and family.

Maplebrook Chorus is open to fourth and fifth graders and meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:25-8:10 a.m. for half the school year, alternating each year between March and December performances. Concerts are shared with the Maplebrook Band and Orchestra.
