About the instructor...Ms. Wukitsch received her Bachelor\'s and Master\'s degrees from DePaul University. She is a member of the National Association of Music Educators (NAfME) and the American Orff Society of America (AOSA). In 2006, she earned her National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification, one of the highest honors a teacher can receive. In addition to her normal teaching duties, Ms. Wukitsch also conducts the Washington Vocal Ensemble and the yearly musical. | About the program...All 6th grade students at Washington receive general music instruction. 6th graders have general music instruction every day for one quarter (9 weeks). This will include 3 or more weeks of beginning guitar! Chorus instruction is available to any interested student. However, once a student registers for chorus, he or she is expected to attend all rehearsals and performances for the duration of the school year. -The 6th Grade Chorus rehearses every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during 6th period. Washington also offers an extra-curricular vocal ensemble that rehearses on Tuesdays and Fridays at 7:00am. Every year Washington puts on a musical. Rehearsals for the musical are after school starting in December. 6th graders can be in the chorus for the musical and 7th and 8th graders can audition for parts or be in the chorus or crew. Auditions will be before winter break. |
