document.write('<tr><td align=left valign=top width="300"><center><BR><H3><u>About the instructors...</u></H3></center><font size="2"><b>David Carroll</b><p>Mr. Carroll has taught band at Maplebrook since 1997.  He also teaches at Madison Junior High School. He also writes drill and assists the Lisle High School Marching Band as a marching and maneuvering instructor and drill designer. Mr. Carroll has also contributed three articles for <I>The Instrumentalist</I> magazine.</p><p>Mr. Carroll\'s likes to ride his bike great distances along the I&M Canal, as well as program computer software as a hobby.  Among his creations are:<li><a href=\"http://www.fingering-charts.com/musicracer\">Musicracer  music \"flashcard\" game</a> to help students with music literacy. <li><a href=\"http://www.thescheduler.org/\">The Scheduler</a> online music lesson scheduler software<li><a href=\"http://www.musicassessor.org/\">Music Assessor,</a> a music teacher candidate technique profiler<li><a href=\"http://www.fingering-charts.com/\">Fingering-Charts.com,</a> a fingering resource site for band directors<li><a href=\"http://www.ncusd203.org/!curriculum/music/\">The web site you are currently looking at!</a></p><p>Mr. Carroll comes from a very musical family. His older brother played sousaphone at the University of Illinois, and his little brother played baritone at the University of Washington. Sadly, both brothers went to the Rose Bowl, but not Mr. Carroll.<br/> <br/>Mr. Carroll is an alumnus of the University of Illinois, where he graduated with high honors. He completed his Masters of Music degree from Northern Illinois Univeristy. He was also recently awarded National Board Certification by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in 2006.</p><BR><BR><b>Erika McCann</b><p>Mrs. McCann is the director of the sixth grade band, eighth grade band and jazz ensemble.  Mrs. McCann is a graduate of Millikin University, where she participated in the Wind Ensemble, Flute Choir, and International Flute Society. She will complete on her Master\'s degree from Concordia University this May 2010 in school counseling.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, roller coasters, spending time with her husband and dog, and being a part of Naperville\'s flute choir and Municipal Band.</p><BR><BR></font> </td><td align=left valign=top cellpadding=5 width="300"><center><BR><H3><u>About the program...</u></H3></center><font size="2"><p>The Madison Band Program emphasizes a comprehensive approach to music learning. Each member receives one small group lesson a week and three full enesemble rehearsals a week. Madison has two jazz bands. These ensembles are considered extra-curricular; however, once a student commits himself or herself to the ensemble, all performances and rehearsals are required to sustain membership. </p><p>The jazz rehearsal schedule will be posted when available.  Jazz rehearsals will be held before school.</p></font> </td></tr>')
