About the program...

The Kennedy Junior High School Orchestra Program consists of a weekly small group lesson and two orchestra rehearsal. Small group lessons focus on developing note reading and technical skills, while the orchestra rehearsal provides an opportunity to apply these skills to the preparation of music for performance.
The KJHS Chamber Strings is an audition entry group for advanced players. This group meets on Thursday mornings at 7:05 a.m.
The Chamber Orchestra performs advanced material and performs with the Chorus program on the Winter concert. This group also tours the elementary feeder schools in the spring.
The KJHS Bluegrass Strings is open to all orchestra students. This ensemble explores alternative styles such as fiddling, jazz, and rock. Students have the option to study and perform on other instruments such as guitar, tin whistle, mandolin, and the banjo with this organization. Bluegrass Strings performs for KJHS open house evenings, KJHS orchestra concerts, and for the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast held every March. This ensemble meets Tuesday mornings at 7:05 a.m.
Orchestra meets at Kennedy Junior High School on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the school day.
