About the instructor...Mrs. Campbell is a graduate of the University of Illinois and has taught orchestra in public schools for fourteen years. She also plays in an adult orchestra and a string quartet and teaches violin and viola privately. She and her family enjoy hiking, camping, reading, gardening, and their cats and fish. But, she loves that her work and favorite hobby are the same: music! Mrs. Campbell thoroughly enjoyed the past six years with District 203 and is looking forward to making the coming year even better for all orchestra students! | About the program...Small group lessons meet for one 40-minute period each week. Lessons follow a rotating schedule to minimize impact of time missed from academic classes, with make-up lessons available as needed. In addition to lessons, students are also able to practice in a larger group setting twice a week during the supervised study period. Bluegrass Strings is an extracurricular group, open to all, which explores fiddle music from around the world, as well as jazz and pop music. Concerts are scheduled periodically to showcase student achievements and motivate practice. Some concerts are informal and take place during the school day, while others are more formal and open to parents and the public. Please make a note of all scheduled concerts and make every effort to attend. All students are expected to participate in all concerts as a significant part of the evaluation process in orchestra, as well as an exciting way to share our talent with friends and family members! |
